Made in India, Established in Toronto

Pooja and Sahaj, founders of House of Maati

We believe home is where we feel most alive.

It is where memory gathers - in the objects we collect, the rituals we return to, and the stories that quietly become a part of our everyday lives.

We grew up in India, surrounded by things crafted slowly and by hand. Objects shaped from wood, stone, metal and clay - each carrying the imprint of its maker and the character of the place it came from. Each home conveyed a unique personality - a distinct story - celebrating the diversity of spirit and life.

Years later, while creating homes of our own in Toronto, Canada - we found ourselves searching for pieces that felt like the homes that nurtured us. Pieces grounded in where we came from, yet at home with the life we were unfolding.

Somewhere between the nostalgia of one home and the making of another, House of Maati was born.

We curate and create enduring objects rooted in Indian craftsmanship: pieces with provenance, character and soul. Not to recreate the past, but to carry its legacy forward — in a way that feels rooted, timeless and alive.

To showcase the beauty of Indian art, design and craftsmanship - the kind we grew up with, and share it with the rest of the world.
One object at a time.

With love,
Pooja & Sahaj

What we value

We believe craft should be felt, not just seen.

That beautiful objects should earn their place in your home through function, character and meaning.

And that Indian craftsmanship deserves to be experienced not as a trend, but as enduring part of global design.
